Pagoda Landscape Scroll Painting
Description
The five-storied pagoda, a national treasure of Kofukuji Temple, stands as a symbol of the world heritage site and ancient capital of Nara prefecture in Japan. It also depicts deers and kimono ladies in the cherry blossoms. Painted with ink and pigments on silk.
Nakagawa Un-en (1894-?) was an Osaka born Japanese artist active during Taisho era (1912-1926). He was a pupil of a Japanese artist, Tamaya shunki (1880-1948). His real name is Tomisaburo.
Some insignificant light marks are present on the painting and mounting, otherwise the piece is in in very good condition. It is accompanied by an original paulownia wood storage box .
