Description

Landscape with new green leaves. Painted with ink and pigments on silk. Signed Shunsui and sealed.

Kawabata Shunsui(1882-?) was a Japanese painter born in Kyoto. A disciple of a prominent painter, Yamamoto Shunkyo(1871-1933). He visited India in 1919. Lived in Kyoto.

Some light creases are visible, which are restored on the back (the lines are still visible but the condition has been improved), and foxing are present on the painting itself, otherwise the piece is in good condition with age. Some light marks, light crease, and foxing are present on the scroll mounting, otherwise the mounting is in good condition with age.
