The rising sun is said to be a great symbol of nurturing all life, and its endless, calm waves are filled with wishes for an eternity and peaceful life.
Hirai Baisen (1889-1969) was a Japanese artist active in Meiji and Showa period, 19-20th Century in Japan. Baisen was born in Kyoto in 1889, and graduated at Kyoto Municipal School of Arts and Crafts in 1906. In 1907, he was accepted at the Bunten art exhibition.
The painting is in very good condition. Some insignificant light crease are present on the lower section of the scroll mounting, otherwise it is in very good condition. It is accompanied by an original paulownia wood storage box .
