Hanging Scroll Sunrise Painting
Description
The two symbolic and sacred rocks known as the Meoto Iwa - Meoto means couple - in Mie prefecture in Japan. Painted with ink and light pigments on silk.
Kano Eiki (1865-1952) was a Japanese painter born in Osaka. He studied under prominent artists such as Nishiyama kanei(1834-1897), Kano Tanbi(1840-1893), and Hashimoto Gaho(1835-1908). He traveled around the country and produced his art works.
Some marks and foxing are present on the painting itself, otherwise the painting is in good condition. Some marks and light damage which has been simply restored are present on the scroll mounting, otherwise the scroll mounting is in very good condition. The piece is accompanied by an original double paulownia wood storage box
